We invite you to join us at Bas Bleu Theatre in downtown Fort Collins, Colorado on Saturday, August 5th for an evening of myth, legend and powerful storytelling. The multi-award-winning Ami Dayan will light up our Tom Sutherland stage with his internationally acclaimed performance of A Tale of a Tiger. This benefit performance will celebrate our 25th anniversary, as well as help raise money to replace the theatre’s damaged roof.

Based on an ancient Chinese folktale, A Tale of a Tiger is Dayan’s adaptation of a play by Nobel Laureate Dario Fo. In an electric one-man performance, Dayan brings to life the story of a wounded soldier who is left for dead by his comrades after an epic battle. Saved by a fearsome tigress and her young cub, the audience will enjoy a highly animated, comedic tale of their life together as the warrior is nursed back to health.

“One might say that, with his new one-man theater piece, Ami Dayan has grabbed a tiger by the tail — and he’s done so with muscularity, conviction, humor, and grace.” – TheaterMania.com

After regaining his health, the soldier finds his way back to a village, only to be followed by the tigers. The villagers at first reject the stranger and fear the monstrous tigers, but after demonstrating their healing powers, the soldier becomes a  revered healer and guru. This is Dayan’s own ending and replaces Fo’s original, politically charged call to arms, which transforms this tale into a heartwarming parable for healing, brotherhood, and peace.

A Tale of a Tiger has brought roars of laughter to audiences around the world and is perfect for all ages over five. We are honored to host the talented Ami Dayan for this special one night show and hope you will join us. Tickets range from $13-$26 per person. Purchase your tickets now and invite your friends!
